THE TECHNOLOGY

Built on a Foundation of Real Science

Transparent Match is powered by two core technologies working together. O*NET — the U.S. Department of Labor's occupational framework — provides 160 standardised competency dimensions covering Abilities, Basic Skills, Knowledge, Work Styles, and Cross-Functional Skills. A large language model reads every resume and job description and maps the content to those exact dimensions — it cannot invent new ones. Everything it outputs is validated server-side. Once profiles are stored, all matching and ranking is done using deterministic math — weighted averages, gap formulas, and Jaccard overlap scoring. No randomness. No black box. The same inputs always produce the same outputs.

How It Works

Upload your resume as a PDF or DOCX, or paste your job description directly. Recruiters can also upload a job description document and the system parses it automatically. No formatting required — the system handles it.

Extract

Our AI reads your document and maps every skill, experience, and qualification to a standardised competency dimension from the O*NET framework. It assigns a proficiency level to each dimension based on the evidence in your document. If a level cannot be determined, it asks you a plain-English clarifying question instead of guessing.

Match

Your competency profile is compared against all relevant profiles on the other side using a deterministic scoring formula. Gaps are calculated per dimension, fit values are computed, and an overall match score is produced. Qualification tiers are assigned automatically — Strong Fit, Good Fit, Partial Fit, or Knockout.

Transparent Match was designed and developed as a capstone project at the University of the West Indies. Every part of the system from the AI extraction pipeline to the deterministic scoring engine to the full-stack frontend was built from scratch by our team.
